God never tells us that the path of obedience is an easy one. In fact, the Bible seems to tell us the exact opposite.
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” Matthew 10:16
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” 2 Timothy 3:12
“For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:14
“Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:3
The promise we do have, though, is that God will always walk with us through that adversity.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
This week we focus on the God who was with the Israelites in their adversity and the God who is with us in ours.
